 We have finally arrived back around to the time of year where I begin to pack away my shorts and bring to the front my pants and jeans for Fall and Winter! This year I bought a few new pairs to elevate my T shirts and Sweaters.



Faux leather pants like these are all over the designer websites this year, but I am proud to say I found these for LESS than $30! They come in 3 perfect colors and are FULLY STOCKED right now.  They are great quality and so comfortable and flattering- in fact, I may purchase the black as well. 


One of the most luxurious and comfortable fabrics we can wear this season is satin! Imagine how elevated these crest your outfit paired with a solid cream top or cardigan. So easy but ready to step into a nice restaurant or event. 


I have to feature this great find as well because these are a $20 find! They also come in 4 colors, and are so comfortable. You can tell I’m all for comfort, in pants especially! These high waisted suede pants are the perfect neutral to pair with all of your fall tops. 


A perfect pair of girly party pants! I would wear with an oxford top and flats or even heels with a blouse for a formal look. How fun would these be around the office with a neutral blazer!

Fall Pants 

The cooler mornings have begun, and require some versatility adjustments to our wardrobe for the new season. I have recently invested in some interchangeable fall basics to achieve maximum comfort and ease of execution. 

A prominent feature of Fall in our lifestyle is the beginning of the school year and the many errands it includes which makes it imperative that I have easy selections to throw on and run out the door like a T shirt dress and sneakers. I have also been enjoying the resurfacing trend of yoga pants and a tee or sweatshirt for the days when I stay home and get things done around the house.

Cozy Fall Basics

Each season, there’s always a few new things I add to my wardrobe and end up wearing almost daily. A couple of them are pictured here- my pearl shoes happen to go with every outfit I have put together so far so naturally it’s hard to leave them behind, and this dress is my favorite throw on and go silhouette because it provides so much space and coverage which is the ultimate comfort for me. Keep reading for a full list of everything I love for fall and all under $150. 


A perfect extra layer to enjoy during the cooler mornings. Comes in several color ways including black, floral, and a dusty pink corduroy!

So beautiful to wear with jeans, or cream colored pants, and even suede or leather pants as shown in the picture. I love the soft elegance of pink that can carry over into our chilly spring months. A great investment. 


A great basic for layering and warmer afternoons. I own this top and have to stop myself from repeating it several days in a row! Maybe I should get the black, too?

Fall Favorites under $150

Although we are well into September, the heat remains in our southern state forecast and with it presents the challenge of wearing fall fashion against the odds. I, however have developed a hack for this dilemma over years of contemplation, and have concluded that the best solution for our toasty fall weather is to simply change our color scheme and continue with our summer silhouettes in fall shades. Allow me to elaborate… 


If you have been paying attention, you will remember the popular bow shoulders from this summer. Set atop of a flowy sundress, this was an ideal look and still remains an adorable feature. I’ve only switched the color to black, and added a warm leather accessory to create a fall ensemble.

Here is another perfect example of a fall trend (the flattering mid cut outs) and wearing a fall colored version with the dusty pink and rose florals. So ideal with a boot or leather flats.

I love this dark shade that perfectly embodies fall. It is also easily dressed up or down. Wear it alone to brave the hot weather, or throw of a cozy cardigan in the evening.

Fall colors in summer silhouettes 

Is it me or is everything cooler when it’s collared? I definitely see how any crewneck or sweater is transformed by popping a collared button down underneath, but wait until you see how the button down transforms with a sweater casually draped over the shoulders! This timeless classic is the perfect way to wear layers for the changing seasons. Wear both in the morning, and shed a layer as the sun warms up the weather.  


You’re going to die when you see how affordable these suede pants are by the way! I have seen so many beautiful luxury pairs, and was so excited to find these. They are under $50 and fit so well it’s crazy they are still in stock! I love the texture of suede and the neutral color pairs with anything. Nothing says fall fashion quite like suede. 


Now this is my ideal business top. The beautiful collar is flanked by two feminine princess puffed sleeve shoulders. The sleeves are short too, which is smart for accentuating the forearm and wrist while hiding the upper arms! 


How beautiful is this jacket? The material is a thinner faux leather which is ideal for layering as it doesn’t present a stiff or heavy barrier. This is such a cool piece especially for a concert or outdoor night life. 


This beautiful plaid neutral can be worn under a jacket, or unbuttoned over a tank top, or even by itself with denim or slacks. A great versatile piece for layering this fall.

Smart Layers for Fall

There are some specific qualities in a piece of clothing that purely elevate it. Embroidery is one of those that if done well, presents an immaculate feature on your garments or accessories. This season, I have collected some beautiful findings of embroidered items that being true artistry to your outfits. 


This dress took my breath away, and I could hardly believe the price was so affordable for something that checks so many boxes for this years “it” trends. First off, it is a beautifully casual and flowy silhouette (such versatility there) in a perfect fall black. And to top it off, the embroidery reminds me of a cowboy boot which hits the nail on the head for the western flare raging in fall and winter fashion this year. It is safe to say this dress is a current favorite I will refuse to part with for years to come. 


I adore this shade of green for fall, and how the fabric falls loosely is very flattering on the body. The bright colors envoke the joy and saturated hues of fall. The craftsmanship here is truly stunning!

Another stunning ode to western style and embroidery. Cultures from Mexico and Native American tribes have long mastered the craft, which makes this style much more admirable and special to me. This dress is the perfect option for a concert or any outdoor fall event. Made to wear with boots.

Autumn Embroidery 

Whether I’m working out, running errands, or spending time outside doing fun activities, it’s always important for me to have a great selection of activewear basics on hand for these occasions! I love to dress up, but some things in life require comfy clothes you could hike a mountain in. Here are some of my recent favorites: 

We have been spending the long weekend in Colorado which has been an ideal vacation. The temperatures are perfectly mild with a chill only on top of the mountain or at night. This makes it the perfect scenario to play outside all day and get dressed up for dinner. During the day, layers are key, so I brought this 

Definitely couldn’t resist this Barbie pink hat! I wear mostly neutral athletic clothes, so I know I can top any outfit off with this girly pop of color for sunny fall days. 



I recently picked up this cropped tank top to wear as a sports bra under a shirt or by itself. I love how this modest layer can be so versatile depending on your activity. I also liked the Amazon version which is less expensive, and both come in several colors! 


This is one of my favorite styles of athletic tees that lululemon makes! The boat neck is nice flattering, and the design on the back is darling as well. It’s unique design takes style out of the gym and around town if you are going to be running from place to place.

Activewear refresh 

I was hoping this trend would resurface along with the other late 2000s fashion elements we are seeing lately! Ballerina flats have been making a comeback, and I have been collecting severs over the past year. Here are some of my recent favorites available now: 

I adore these high-cut velvet flats in a beautiful dusty pink which is a perfect feminine fall shade. This particular pair comes in 6 colors and are under $100.

Another amazing texture for fall fashion. The woven leather adds a unique and elegant eye catcher for these flats. The black version is gorgeous too. I would pair these with dresses or pants this season!

Chanel inspired minus the extra zero in the price! These flats have all the staple features and are under $100. We have all seen this color combo paired with virtually every outfit under the sun. Ballerina Flats 

Shades of fall are surfacing everywhere lately with new patterns including browns, greens, burgundy and other shades for the new season. Here are some of the latest floral styles that have caught my eye and are beautiful options to take you through to winter in cozy tones. 



This green floral dress is so ideal for me as my birthday is in August and it’s the perfect shade of peridot green (my birthstone). I don’t have a lot of green dresses, and I’m excited to have added this one as green is a great color to work into all seasons. It’s an earth tone/neutral that will work under sweaters or with sandals!

Early Fall Florals 

I love the statement of stripes for outdoor activities amidst changing seasons. Temperatures are giving us a small break with rain in the forecast, and 

 is a great option for curling up at home or coasting through cooler evenings by the water. 


I adore this $50 classic tee. The warm cream is a perfect fall background shade and will pair perfectly with a chic black short or pants.

Stripes into Fall 

It is so special to accumulate a few new pieces every season to add to our festive collection of Fall and other holiday items. I am excited to share a few recent finds with you for the home including your kitchen, front porch, and great deals on cozy candles! 



I found both of these beautiful front porch accents on Etsy.  I love the striped bow on the wreath and the customizable doormat is so special for newlyweds.

These adorable soup or chili bowls are from Amazon, and how festive are they for this season! I’m planning to make pumpkin squash soup to eat in them. This hand

This might be my favorite fall find so far. It reminds me of an old glass bottle. Transform the color scheme where you usually keep your fresh bouquets with this amber vase. The delicious color will warm up the area and beckon in all the fall cozies.

A Few Fall Things 

Sometimes all you need is a tiny tweak in accessories to incorporate a new season in your outfit. I have been doing this for years since Texas remains pretty dry and toasty until February! This year I’m using Suede Shoes to shake up my summer wardrobe and turn it into fall. 




I love how a quick switch of fabric and color can take this dress from the coast to the pumpkin patch! The suede Tretorns transform the color scheme of this outfit begging for a caramel colored sweater to be tied around my shoulders. This is such an easy fall wardrobe hack for warm climates- just continue to wear your summer dresses and throw on a fall shoe whether it be 

, then you are perfectly dressed for the season without clowning around under cashmere in this heat!


This is truly a go-to outfit for me year round. I have found such comfort in Levi’s jeans (see more in my blog post 

) that I even have left them on to lounge around the couch! 

 straight cut jeans are especially popular lately and the looser fit adds to their flexibility. My 

 is also super flattering with the shoulder detail, and a very neutral piece even for spring all the way through the fall.

Suede Shoes 

My two little boys will be attending a part time school program this fall, and I have been feeling the rush of “back to school” shopping as we gather together the list of items they will need and attempt to coordinate their outfits as mush as possible (my new favorite part of having two kids!) 

The first order of business was getting the backpacks for the boys! These are from 

 and come in two sizes: the small is only $25, and the medium is only $32! We were also able to have their names (or initials) embroidered on the front which is great since their school asks for them to be labeled anyway.

Having those few go-to evening wear pieces makes it so fun and carefree to get dressed up for a (very rare) night out! The “little black dress” is a loved and versatile piece that can be worn for almost any occasion with the pairing accessories. Here are my recent favorite options to amp up your LBD repertoire. 


I love how the cut outs of this dress give a modern edge to its conservative and classy silhouette! I have worn this with a pony tail and 

Kind of a shorter version of the dress with the trendy cut outs. Such a great option for a casual date night or a summer concert. Definitely a dress that could be repeated again and again.

Jacquard texture is a classic option for fall/winter. This would make a beautiful cocktail dress for a wedding or more formal occasion. I could see sparkly silver accessories seriously elevating this evening look. 


I have to give this look it’s moment. This is under $100 and goes over a body suit or slip dress (doesn’t even have to be black) but my oh my does it bring the whole party.

Little Black Dress 

One of the first telling signs of fall fashion is the resurfacing of denim jeans. I always enjoy adding a new pair to my collection and refreshing my options for casual fall fashion. Here is a curated edit of my tried and true favorites for our family.


Years ago I discovered the best prices for the classic brand, Levi’s can be found on Amazon! There are endless shades and styles to choose from under $100 and usually even under $50. I am so proud of this discovery as it keeps our household stocked with a favorite brand of jeans for everyone in our family.  

Our kids look so adorable in these tiny jeans! The pairs we own have kept so well over the seasons and we pass them along to little brother. 



These bootcut jeans come in several colors and are a great choice for outdoor occasions here in the south where a cowboy boot is ever present!

I love this creamy pink shade for the fall to pair with sneakers and a cute top or sweater in a complimentary shade of brown, navy, cream, and even burgundy or green.

A Family Denim Edit 

August is here, and summer begins to close, but not without it’s lingering celebrations and soaking up the last bit of summer fun. I have selected some jaw dropping centerpiece dresses to end your summer soirées with a bang. 


My birthday and my eldest son’s birthday month is August, so I have plenty reasons to keep the fun going right through. I adore

Late Summer Statement Dresses

Late summer is in session as we inch closer to August, and with it brings several wonderful sales. I have been on the hunt for warm neutrals and staple basics to snag for the remainder of the year, and a Saks Fifth Avenue is a haven for classic pieces and trendy gems along all price ranges from steals to investment pieces. Their latest sale definitely offers steals on these shoe selections I have collected to share with you! I have been oo-ing and aah-ing over which to choose from neutral sandals, evening shoes, and fall suedes. What’s your favorite? 

Shoe Sale at Saks

Lately I’ve been doing a deep dive into my library, and I have some great new books to share that I have been reading this summer. My last post referred to fun, non-fiction options, but this little list is a bit more hardcore including business strategies and biographies. Sometimes I just love a mental recharge through learning! (How nerdy) but seriously, there’s nothing like a new perspective from someone else’s insight or experience. Read on for details and summaries of these recent books 




This is the third book I have read by Robert Greene, and I am trying to be intentional about digesting them slowly as to not dissolve the lessons by devouring them too fast. This book dissects deep into the layers of people and social sciences. This is definitely not a “light read” but a valuable eye opener for those with an interest in their social game. 


Much like the one above, I love a book that presents takeaways from historical successful experiences. This book studies though expedious success stories to file away methods that help you work “smarter” not harder. Definitely a lighter read from the latter which I have enjoyed listening to on my morning walks! 

They say the best way to learn from the figures you look up to is to read their books! This biography has made me fall in love with one of my my long-time idols, Julie Andrews all over again. I have always known she was something special from the way she carries herself in her work, and getting an inside scoop of her life has created a deep connection in me towards her. I look forward to reading her second book as well. 

This is another wonderful biography I have read recently from a fellow (and wonderfully successful) blogger and now mother of two, Jacey Duprie of 

. I learned so much from her raw account of her experience in this new industry, but the more profound parts of the book were her deeper struggles which she so humbly shared with the reader and showed uncanny relatability to my own life. I think I came across this book at the perfect time and I am so glad she wrote it!

Reading Refresh 

Heading into August, we begin to see the warm, delicious previews of autumn colors and prints. Unfortunatley for us Texans, three digit temperatures seem to be standing their ground for the forseeable future. This is the time of year where my wardrobe leans toward versatile neutrals which can carry me toward the new season without suffering a heat stroke! 

I have been eyeing some super easy basics to throw on without much calculation. Read on for my lates selections of summer to fall basics. 

White or ivory is one of the most versatile colors in my opinion. This "blanc" shade gives you a clean slate to pair and accessiorize for whatever occasion you need.

Camel is already showing up all over the latest fashion lines as we anticipate fall and the tasteful folliage it will bring. 

Navy is another go-to neutral in my playbook. This shade is easily nautical when paired with white or cream, but just a touch of brown leads you into the following season. 

Just because Texas brings heat until febuary, doesn't mean we can't rellish in all of the fall glory. I know we all get anxiously excited to break out the pumkins and plaid- hopefully some of these neutral basics can hold us over until its more practical weather for wool and cashmere!

Summer to Fall Basics

Certain seasons in life are best documented with a beautiful, professional photography session. Several years ago, we began our family tradition of taking formal photos on the eve of each child’s first birthday. This year’s session marked a year with our newest son, Chance, and the wonderful memories we have made so far learning to thrive as a family of four. I am so excited and blissfully pleased with these timeless and regal photos of us all by Amber Damour Photography. 




I wanted to share with you more details of our session and the wonderful artist, 

 who has been our returning family photographer! She comes with esteemed accolades, yet hosts a care free session allowing the purity of yourselves to shine through the photos. Though we shot them in a muddy, damp post-rainy evening in Prather Park, she captured a whimsical setting with the deep, moody greens. 


When I look at these photos, it is hard to determine time and place as they seem to transcend the decades and represent only the true and heavenly love of family.

Sometimes summer calls for more adventurous occasions where slip ons and sandals just won’t do. I have collected my favorite summer shoe options to pair with the long walks, runs or climbs we have in store.

Okay this may be starting to look like a cult list, but I swear by these running shoes! I wear them to walk or jog nearly every day, and seldom reach for any other exercise shoe. They have a model for every foot type and gate as well as suited specifically for various activities.
